Tour Description

Sorrento is a renowned holiday resort and lies in one of the most spectacular point in the gulf of Naples. Because of its mild climate and wonderful position, Sorrento had been a favorite resort since the Roman times. It is bordered by crystal clear waters and surrounded by enchanting gardens and citrus fruit groves, yet much of its beauty is to be found along the roads in the houses with their typical local architecture, and in the monuments which testify to its long history. In Sorrento you will discover a little cultural treasure through the historical remains visible at the famous museum Correale, and the famous Cloister of San Francesco, a quiet place with a little garden near the Villa Comunale from where you can admire the Gulf of Naples. In the center of the town is possible to buy some souvenir like limoncello bottles or inlaid wood objects famous in Sorrento for their quality and beauty.

Pompeii is one of the most famous archaeological sites of the Campania region and it is is also UNESCO heritage since 1997 for its historical importance. The breathtaking extent (over sixty hectares) of ruins which form this large urban centre, which has in some way survived time and the brutal violence of the volcano, was entirely surrounded by walls which wound for more than three kilometres around the city. At the entrance to the city, at the gates, the remains of hotels, inns and post stations, which welcomed visitors and merchants, are to be found and, further into the urban centre, shops of all kinds (from bakers to laundries, from cobblers to smiths, from greengrocers to pastry shops), in some cases still decorated by their painted signs, private houses, altars, small chapels, spas and baths (both private and public) and grandiose public buildings. The latter are gathered in three main centres: the Civil Forum with the temple of Jupiter, the Basilica, the covered market, the building of Eumachia, the Triangular Forum and the district of the theatres, with the ancient Doric temple and that of lsis, the gymnasium, the large and small theatres and finally the Amphitheatre area.

Positano is an ancient seaside town which lies on the southern side of the Lattari Mountains, sloping down gently towards the sea on terraces constructed along the rock spurs of M. Comune and M. Sant’Angelo a Tre Pizzi, right in the middle of the gulf between Punta Germano to west and Capo Sottile to east. Because of its outstanding panoramic position and mild climate, together with its picturesque architecture and the lush surrounding countryside, Positano has became one of the most popular resorts on the Amalfi Coast: white houses, the myriad colours of splendid gardens the historical beauties and the spectacular blue sea. In addition to the attractions offered by the town of Positano, some pleasant excursions can be made in its immediate neighbourhood. Starting from the Positano observation point behind Fornillo beach, visitors can follow the road that leads along a section of the coast intersected by spectacular cliffs, rising sheer out of the sea.
